Plug-in's
Gio

Hi everyone

I know some of you have been waiting for our isometric and physics plug-in. We have been working hard to release them as soon as possible, and we really wanted to do that today.

However it appears that there are still a couple of problems to sort out (not with the plug-in's themselves, but something to do with the website configuration, licenses, etc). So we are looking to do it early next week.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause to you, they'll be available in just a couple of days. With a lot of other cool stuff.

Thanks for you patience.

OK, they are available now (get them here).

We want to give them for free to early adopters (anyone who's registered before the Wade 1.0 release, i.e. before December 20, 2013). We are setting up voucher codes, and if you qualify you should get yours in the next 24 hours.

There's also a lot of other cool stuff in the market, so have a look to see if there's anything you need.

Wow! Send me a code, send me a code :D

I've noticed the isometric sample, I want that now!

Seriously, lots of interesting things in the new market. I hope you keep expanding it, would be awesome with more content. We all need something like this.

hi, does "Wade Isometric Plug-in" support dimetric? :)

That's a rather technical question :)

The plug-in works with a near-isometric perspective, with a 2:1 ratio. Since most browsers don't support sub-pixel drawing in a canvas, this integer ratio is the only one that would look decent while being fast enough on mobiles.

People have been calling games that use this perspective "isometric" since the 1980's, but in reality they are near-isometric and it would be more correct to consider them a variation of a dimetric projection, as explained at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isometric_graphics_in_video_games_and_pixel_art

To be clear, if you look at our isometric sample, that's the only perspective supported at the moment.

Very nice update today! I shall be looking forward to my coupon code!

Can i trick it? All my designs are in dimetric perspective but using this plug-in(near-isometric perspective) to run it. Example like below here. :)

"Dimetric" is a bit of a loosely defined term. You can be dimetric at several different angles. In fact our plugin is dimetric too, at about 26.5 degrees (to achieve a 2:1 ratio).

Having said that, in this sample we are using a dimetric (26.5 deg) world, and isometric (30 deg) characters, and it looks just fine. It may look better if you shrink the characters down slightly on the y axis, but since the angles are very close, it doesn't really matter too much. If your dimetric projection is at an angle that's relatively close to 26.5, and it is a parallel projection, then you could do that too.

Those grids above aren't parallel projections, i.e. things in the distance appear smaller than things near the camera. That's a very different system. It would still be possible to override some functions of our isometric plug-in to achieve that, but it wouldn't be super-easy.

I would suggest that you try using these images below to see if your dimetric objects fit well on this grid (maybe changing the aspect ratio of your objects slightly). If they look good on the grid, then they'll work well with the isometric plug-in.

okay, i made some changing on your grid. I add more tiles, is it okay to add? :) plan.png

Sure, you can add as many as you like. All cells look the same, so you can just copy and paste.

I think your characters look like they may be using the right perspective? It doesn't look too wrong to me.

Got my voucher code! Thank you Clockwork Chilli!

I am reading the isometric tutorial, looking very good so far
RemoteControl

thanks for information, :) but right now i can't buy this plug-in because i'm lacking of money. And my alternative solution is "click and point", after i finish make the game, i'll add at showcase. :)

Elliot

I am loving the plugins so far, have been playing with the physics one and it's great.

Gio

RemoteControl, we will be looking forward to seeing your game, it sounds promising :)

Today I find this surpise in my e-mail. I was waiting for plugins for long time! I can make isometric game, this is very good :D thanks for voucher code.
